Hi everyone! I’m trying to back in the swing of things- and look what I found! Loving these boutonnieres from Pomp and Plumage on Etsy. Affordable and cute!

Here are two different weddings that I came across in the last couple of weeks- and the same thing caught my eye in both- besides the brides- the wedding party style is fabulous!!

The first is Cora & Lloyd’s wedding, photographed by Elton Anderson.

I LOVE how chic and elegant the girls look- and the unique match with groomsmen in tan suits is a nice touch.

This next wedding is from Robert Sukrachand- Justin & Allison.

So there’s a few things I’m taking notice of here- the flat sandals and short dresses on the girls- very cute; and the paisley ties on the guys (side note: notice how their different shoes still look good-no need to be super matchy matchy.)

Kudos to both of these wedding parties!

For some reason, when I think of morning or afternoon wedding, I instantly envision an outdoor affair. But the more I thought about it, I realized that couples are having early weddings during all times of the year, and in all types of climates. I tried to scope out some options that would be fitting in all situations.

The key rule (in my humble opinion) to early wedding attire is to keep it lighter. And this goes for the boys and the girls. Stick with lighter colors, the more formal you go. Stick with lighter fabrics, the darker the colors you use. Now you’re with me, right?

Let’s start with the ladies:

If your wedding is in the morning, and in a cooler climate, you might want to give your girls a cute cardigan or sweater to shield them from that nippy breeze that’s sometimes there.

Tea-length dresses seem perfect for an earlier wedding, and we all know that tea-length dresses stand a much higher chance of being worn again! If you’re thinking about darker colors for your wedding, opting for a shorter length may keep the dresses from looking too formal for the daytime.

If you want long dresses, I’d stick with simpler designs and lighter fabrics like chiffon.I could see these dresses working well with an indoor morning or afternoon wedding.

and these floor-length gowns are gorgeous, bright, and would look beautiful in the early hours.

Now for the gentlemen:

Okay- you guys will have to let me know if you agree. I don’t think a classic tuxedo with bowtie fits with the early wedding. Suits seem more appropriate. Maybe even a tux with a tie instead. Same rule applies: if you want to go more formal, I’d keep the colors lighter (suit color, tie color).

If you go with darker colors, I would take the formality down a notch to give it a little air.
