These two DIY projects go perfectly together. You can make the cutest message board for your wedding! Credits: Chicken Wire Frame from Lemonade Makin Momma; Pretty Clothespins from BleuBird Vintage I have come across sooo much great inspiration for home decor on Pinterest. Many of them make me think of weddings, so I’ll be creating some palettes based on my favorites. This bedroom stood out to me because of how the peach and patterns stand out against the gray. For this wedding, I’m picturing a somewhat casual, comfortable affair. It’s not overly girly- but there are a few details that are distinctly feminine. The bride’s dress would be sweet and romantic; and crisp white table linens that mimic the bed’s comforter. Other details that are a must are one or two bold patterns like these pillows. These could be implemented though napkins, menus, and of course the invites! Finally, I love the traditional elements- the headboard and detailing of the stools… maybe seen in frames throughout the wedding? The beauty about using a photo like this for inspiration is that its a great foundation- and can be interpreted in many ways! Enjoy!

What’s that you ask? Well, white tablecloths are often the standard at wedding venues. And brides spend their time swooning over elaborate table settings, and many will come to find out that their budget doesn’t allow for wood chargers, vintage china, or expensive patterned tablecloths. Maybe they’re DIY’ing the centerpieces…or maybe that’s all they budgeted for. Well, I’ve put together a few easy ways to make that white tablecloth fit in with your wedding with tactics that fit your budget. • Runners- maybe the most obvious, but still a simple and easy way to add color to your table. These are less expensive to rent, and easier to DIY. Yellow round-table runner pictured is a Martha Stewart DIY. • Napkins- If displayed creatively, napkins can have great visual impact. I especially love the rectangular folded napkin holding the menu- it really makes the placesetting. • Favors- Instead of making a cute display table for your favors, consider using them in the table setting to add color. Kill two birds with one stone! • Menus- Colored paper is a lot easier on the budget than linens. Spend a little extra time making your menus stand out and then place them on your plates. • Napkin adornments- Beyond just color, you can find plenty of ways to turn up the appeal of your napkins. Flowers, fruit, ribbons or twine, and tissue pom poms could all do the trick. Hope this helps! What other good ideas have you all seen implemented that work well? I’m doing some redecorating around here…please bear with me as I play around with graphics. Now… back to business! I LOVE bright and bold colors. But I have to admit, there’s something about the combination of the color white with the lightest of pastel colors that has a fresh, youthful, and elegant feel. Mint green, pale yellow, powder blue, or blush….I love them all.

I have been spending hours perusing the internet, catching up on my favorite blogs, discovering new ones… Trying to get a feel for what’s out there, and what needs to be out there Photography by Michael Gaydon: What great inspiration for you winter brides! Cotton plants…. I love this idea. I’ll have to do some research on how you get your hands on these if you don’t happen to live near a cotton field, but hey…it’s inspiration. And how awesome would it be to have a winter engagement session with those horses! Can’t you just see it- a couple with all their winter accessories…walking through the snow, leading their horses. Another with the guy helping the girl off the horse. Another with them roasting marshmallows… I could go on. Whit & Whistle: This blog is full of all sorts of goodness. These diy crafts were particularly interesting. Amanda created a chalkboard platter, chalkboard mug, and this stenciled pillow. Someone please stencil me a pillow one with my favorite love song lyrics. I want one bad! Friendship Bracelet: This is soooo cute. It’s like a friendship bracelet for adults! A little pricey for a bridesmaid gift, but maybe some of ya’ll can swing it. Or maybe just for your one true bestie? Comes in brass or silver. Dynamo Typochocolate: It’s chocolate that says “best day ever.” It’s chocolate so….good gift by default. The typography is just the cherry on top. Cookbook: Cookbooks are a typical bridal shower gift…but this one put an instant smile on my face. Isn’t this how every woman feels many a night??? I think this also works as a gift to the groom. I’ll admit- I have no idea if the recipes are good… it’s the profanity that got me.
It’s not often that you see bridesmaids carrying the same color flowers as their dress. Most brides, probably due to tradition, try to disperse their 2 or 3 wedding colors evenly through all the elements of the wedding. Dress one color- flowers the other color. I came across this photo a little while back and instantly noticed the purple on purple. It’s a somewhat forgotten approach that’s worth considering. credits: purple (Lemonlime Photography), coral dress (Ivy & Aster),green dress (J Crew), green bouquet (Cybidium Flowers via Dmagazine), yellow dress, flowers (Tracy Turpen Photography), pink dress (Ivy & Aster). bouquet (Karen Tran Florals) These designs are so fun and AMAZING! I’m not sure how easy it would be to pull these off as a a DIY project, but it may be possible if you’re really creative and resourceful. All designs by Confetti System: One of the easiest ways to dress up all those little spaces that people will see at your wedding (think escort card tables, bathroom counters, entry way areas, etc) is to use jars, vases, and other nifty containers that are filled with creative (and cheap!) things! Anything from sand, stones, collections of various things, or fruit! Take a look around your neighborhood and get creative! I’ve got some pictures to inspire you below:
For a holiday wedding- ornaments make great fillers.
These veggies are cooked…but you could use raw veggies that fit your color palette. For fall, pinecones and acorns are great! I’m sure you can find something at your local craft store to spray these with to give them a sheen if desired. collections of items can add a vintage touch… love this. Yellow, featured the work of photo stylist Lo Bjurulf, the other day and I was blown away. I ventured over to the website and found some great wedding inspiration-SCORE!!! Take a look at these settings…these combinations could be beautiful in a wedding. I love the use of lemons in this one! And this one has so much warmth and comfort….perfect for a fall wedding. Hope you can take some inspiration from these- Have a great weekend! |
