Inspiration, DIY, and Gifts

I have been spending hours perusing the internet, catching up on my favorite blogs, discovering new ones… Trying to get a feel for what’s out there, and what needs to be out there :-) . I wanted to share a few things I came across that peaked my interest!

Photography by Michael Gaydon: What great inspiration for you winter brides! Cotton plants…. I love this idea. I’ll have to do some research on how you get your hands on these if you don’t happen to live near a cotton field, but hey…it’s inspiration. And how awesome would it be to have a winter engagement session with those horses! Can’t you just see it- a couple with all their winter accessories…walking through the snow, leading their horses. Another with the guy helping the girl off the horse. Another with them roasting marshmallows… I could go on.

Whit & Whistle: This blog is full of all sorts of goodness. These diy crafts were particularly interesting. Amanda created a chalkboard platter, chalkboard mug, and this stenciled pillow. Someone please stencil me a pillow one with my favorite love song lyrics. I want one bad!

Friendship Bracelet: This is soooo cute. It’s like a friendship bracelet for adults! A little pricey for a bridesmaid gift, but maybe some of ya’ll can swing it. Or maybe just for your one true bestie? Comes in brass or silver.

Dynamo Typochocolate: It’s chocolate that says “best day ever.” It’s chocolate so….good gift by default. The typography is just the cherry on top.

Cookbook: Cookbooks are a typical bridal shower gift…but this one put an instant smile on my face. Isn’t this how every woman feels many a night??? I think this also works as a gift to the groom. I’ll admit- I have no idea if the recipes are good… it’s the profanity that got me.

diy decor- Filled Containers

One of the easiest ways to dress up all those little spaces that people will see at your wedding (think escort card tables, bathroom counters, entry way areas, etc) is to use jars, vases, and other nifty containers that are filled with creative (and cheap!) things!

Anything from sand, stones, collections of various things, or fruit! Take a look around your neighborhood and get creative! I’ve got some pictures to inspire you below:

For a holiday wedding- ornaments make great fillers.

These veggies are cooked…but you could use raw veggies that fit your color palette.

For fall, pinecones and acorns are great! I’m sure you can find something at your local craft store to spray these with to give them a sheen if desired. Katie Brown: Jar Fillers

free DIY template: bachelorette party cupcake flags

in an effort to keep myself from going crazy while being snowed in, I made these cute (and slightly naughty) cupcake flags, perfect for a super girly & glam bachelorette party!

You can just cut, fold in half, and glue around toothpicks. Cute cupcakes indeed! :-) Download template here.

Free DIY Template: rectangular wedding favor tags

small-blue-bird-wedding-favor-tags

Good Morning! I am so excited to have my first template available for my readers to download: a bluebird wedding favor tags template. I think they came out so adorable! I like the idea of actually saying “thank you” to your guests rather than just having a tag with your names and wedding date.

I made alternate versions with yellow, brown, and “no fill” birds too. (“No fill” means the bird images are only outlines and the color of your paper will show through.) Just print on cardstock, and cut. Use a corner rounder if you want to achieve the look above, but sharp corners would look great too.

Download bird wedding favor tag templates.

If you really want something personalized- print your names and wedding date on the reverse side of the tags to look something like this.

I’ve provided a template for the reverse side as well. I’m unable to make editable templates right now, so in order to do this, you’d have to print the favor tags on your desired paper. Then open up the word document and change the names.  Insert the pre-printed tag paper into your printer, making sure to load so that it prints on the reverse side this time.

DIY tiny wedding favors

These little handmade trinkets are from the Inchmark blog, written by Brooke Reynolds. They were Valentine’s Day gifts given by Brooke’s kids. So cute! I got to thinking….these could work as wedding favors! Each matchbox could hold a few mints or your favorite candy.

DIY, wedding, favors, small, cheap

Can’t you just imagine how cute these would be dressed up with coordinating scrapbook papers and tiny ribbons, twine, or really anything you could think of! These little cuties could make a huge impact! Toss a bunch into a pretty container to greet your guests or place one at each place setting.

Oh, and the best part is- this packaging is only going to cost you around $1.50 for a 10 pack! It’s somewhat self-explanatory, but you can get the directions on making these, here.
